Watching an archival film about Pshavi
About
This time, ethnographer and employee of the National Museum of Georgia Giorgi Mamardashvili will talk about Pshavi. This mountainous region in Eastern Georgia is located in the gorge of the Aragvi River. Historically, it was part of the Pkhoveti area along with Khevsureti, and today it is considered a place with a unique culture, poetic tradition, and complex fate: many residents have gradually moved to the lowland areas.
During the meeting, we will watch a rare archival film by Mirian Khutsishvili, filmed between 1960 and 1979 — it can be regarded as a visual study of the region.
The lecture and film discussion will be conducted in Russian
