How did photography change the perception of Georgia?
About
Today, photography seems like something usual, but once it was a real technical wonder. Gradually, the art of photography became one of the main ways to preserve memories of people and events. Thanks to it, we can see what Georgia looked like a hundred years ago.
In the lecture, we will discuss:
- who opened the first photo studio in Tbilisi and how Georgian photography emerged;
- the role played by foreign photographers, including Robert Capa, in shaping the international image of Georgia;
- who took the first selfie in Georgia and how the fashion for photography changed.
The lecture will be delivered by guide and urban environment historian Anna Pestova.
The lecture will be conducted in Russian
Payment on-site by cash or card.
