Writer, scholar, monk, and diplomat: Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani

At the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Kingdom of Kartli was experiencing a severe crisis under the pressure of Iran and the Ottoman Empire. In these conditions, Orbelians attempted to integrate Georgia into the European political system while also preserving national identity — and he is remembered as the "father of Georgian enlightenment." Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences Mikheil Bakhtadze will discuss the role of Orbelians in Georgia's history and what the country's foreign policy looked like 300 years ago in a lecture at Papers. The lecture will be held in Russian Payment on-site in cash or by card.
