What in our ability to learn depends on effort, and what depends on genetics?
About
There is an opinion that the success of learning depends on willpower, discipline, and motivation. But from the perspective of modern science, it's more complicated: in addition to the environment and conditions, our cognitive abilities are determined by genetics and the structure of the brain.
In the lecture, we will discuss:
why multitasking cannot be trained;
why studies on the origins of homozygous twins are important for understanding the contribution of genetics to human abilities;
why genetic tests for abilities are an expensive and useless toy.
The lecture will be delivered by Anton Zakharov, a physiologist, science communicator, and academic director of the "Proyektor" school.
