Excursion to the silk museum

Join us for a tour of the silk museum — this was once a scientific center. Once, silk was a universal currency, responsible for launching caravans from China to Europe. Even now, it remains a valuable material: it is used to make garments, fishing tackle, and medical threads. What you will learn on the tour: • how silk fabrics are produced; • why silk is so expensive; • why Louis Pasteur examined silkworm eggs under a microscope. The tour will be led by Vladimir Kozis, a guide in Tbilisi and a researcher of the history of sericulture. Bring children over 10 years old — the program is designed for the whole family.
