A walk through the Jewish cemetery
About
What do the Jewish symbols on ancient gravestones mean? We will discuss this on a walk through a lost cemetery
In the Tbilisi district of Navtlugi, near the "Samgori" metro station, lies a cemetery from the last century — here you can wander among decaying crypts and admire the peculiar gravestones.
On Sunday, April 26, together with a historian and author of courses on reading gravestones, we will head there — walking among the gravestones and deciphering ancient symbols on Jewish graves. He will explain how cemetery architecture is structured, how the graves here differ from typical Georgian memorials, and what relation this has to the grandmother of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
