We are going to study the Kist community in Pankisi.

In Kakheti, on both banks of the Alazani River, lies the Pankisi Gorge. For over a hundred years, Kistins — settlers from Chechen villages — have lived here. Our tour is an opportunity to see the life of a Muslim community whose traditions have changed little over the past centuries. We will explore the Kistin villages in the Pankisi Gorge, meet a local woman who has been hand-weaving carpets and felting wool for 60 years, visit an ethnographic museum, and have lunch with traditional dishes. We will also take a stroll through picturesque places: we will climb a hill to view the ruins of a Georgian church on the site of a shrine and look at the large stone amphitheater overlooking Pankisi.
