What did Tbilisi look like one hundred years ago?
About
Let's take a look at old maps of the city and archival photographs, and at the same time discuss the political and social life of Tbilisi during those years.
We will start exploring the city with the first map by Prince Vakhushti Bagrationi from 1735 and find out:
▪️ which parks are located where cemeteries used to be;
▪️ what the Dry Bridge looked like when there was still water under it;
▪️ why Soviet maps of Tbilisi are hidden.
The lecture will be conducted by Tbilisi researcher and former guide Daniil Bondar. Daniil stopped leading walking tours of the city due to a new law concerning guides. Now he will share his findings and printed maps at the lecture in our space.
The lecture will be conducted in Russian
